Overview
Hero is sold on a credit-based plan. When you first sign up, you start on a free trial of the Individual plan with 1,250 credits to use over 30 days. When you're ready, you can upgrade to the paid Individual plan for $20/month, which gives you 1,250 credits per week.
You manage your plan, see your credit balance, and upgrade from one place: Settings → Usage.
Signing up and starting your trial
When you create a Hero account, we ask for a couple of quick details — your name, your email, and your agreement to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. That's it. Once you continue past this screen, your free trial starts automatically. There's no credit card required to begin.
Your trial gives you 30 days and 1,250 credits to try Hero's full Individual feature set, including AI meeting prep and debriefing, the voice assistant, always-on access, and advanced integrations.
Understanding credits
Hero uses credits to meter your AI activity. Every plan comes with a credit allowance, and credits are consumed as you use Hero's AI features.
You can see your current balance any time in Settings → Usage.
Usage
To get to your Usage page, open Settings and select Usage from the left sidebar.
You'll see two main sections:
Your current plan: A card at the top shows which plan you're on (for example, Individual free trial), how many credits you've used out of your allowance, and — if you're on a trial — the date your trial ends.
COMING SOON: Your upgrade options.
Upgrading to a paid plan
Click Upgrade on the Individual plan card to start checkout. You'll be taken to a secure Stripe-powered payment page where you can:
Pay with Link for one-tap checkout if you've used Stripe Link before, or
Enter card details manually — card number, expiry, CVC, cardholder name, and billing address.
You'll also have the option to save your payment information for faster checkout next time. After clicking Save, your card is charged $20 and your account immediately switches to the paid Individual plan with 1,250 credits per week.
You'll receive a receipt by email to the address you signed up with.
What happens when your free trial ends
Your trial ends 30 days after you sign up. The date is shown on your Usage page (for example, Trial ends May 27, 2026).
If you upgrade before that date, your account converts to the paid Individual plan with no interruption. Any credits left over from your trial don't carry over — your weekly credit balance starts fresh on the paid plan.
If you don't upgrade before the trial ends, AI features that require credits will be paused. You'll still be able to sign in, see your past activity, and upgrade at any time from Settings → Usage.
What happens when you run out of credits
Credits on the paid Individual plan refresh weekly — every 7 days, your balance resets to 1,250.
If you use up your weekly credits before the next refresh, AI features that consume credits will be temporarily unavailable until the reset. You'll see a notice in the app and on your Usage page letting you know when your credits will renew. Non-AI parts of the product continue to work as normal.
If you regularly hit your weekly limit, let us know — we're happy to talk about higher-volume options as more plans become available (see Coming soon below).
Payments & Subscription
Managing your payment method
To update the card on file:
Open Settings → Usage.
Click Manage billing on your current plan card.
You'll be taken to a secure billing portal where you can update your card, billing address, and email for receipts.
Changes save immediately. Your next charge will use the new payment method.
Canceling or downgrading
You can cancel your paid plan at any time:
Open Settings → Usage.
Click Manage billing on your current plan card.
Choose Cancel plan.
Your paid plan stays active through the end of the current billing period — you keep your weekly credits and full access to paid features until then. After that, your account moves back to a free experience with limited access. We don't bill you again, and we keep your account and history available if you ever want to come back.
If you change your mind before the period ends, you can resume your subscription from the same screen.
Coming soon: Team plans
Right now, Hero offers an Individual plan for solo users. We're working on a Team plan for groups that need shared billing and more credits. If you need an Enterprise plan, reach out to [email protected] to check out Hero Enterprise, called Ava. If that sounds like you, reach out and we'll let you know when those plans are ready.
